The solar panel converts a portion of the sun’s energy into DC electricity and this electricity travels to the battery through a copper wire. The battery stores the current as amperage, similar to a gas tank storing gasoline. A battery is also designed to produce voltage which, when combined with amperage, gives power. The battery power may be used at any time to operate devices connected to the battery.
Confused by products rated in watts, volts, amps and how they relate to solar power? This short video uses a gas tank example to explain how these units of measuring electricity are used in the mobile solar power industry.
